Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO REPORT FORM
Witness: Jimmy xxx
Occupation: Wine Marketer
Sighting Duration: less than a minute
Observation: It was a warm day, and my sister and I were sitting on the lawn in the back yard of her house in Parkside, Adelaide. Being tired from lack of sleep the night before I was lying down on my back looking up at the sky. I noticed a bright/shiny object very high up in the sky (seemed like cloud level, there were a few cirrus/cirrostratus clouds) in a north easterly direction, elevation close to 80 degrees. The object was stationary and the shine looked like it could be a direct reflection of sunlight.
Description: After initial observation, the brightness/shinyness of the object dimmed, over 15 seconds or so, then disappeared, all while remaining stationary. Less than 30 seconds later, the object reappeared and took off in a south-south easterly direction at approximately half the brightness of the initial observation. It was travelling south at high speed, in an exact straight line, before disappearing after traversing around 70 degrees of sky in just over 5 seconds - this makes it a very fast object indeed. Location: Parkside, Adelaide, SA.
Other Witnesses: My sister. I pointed out the initial sighting to her and she confirmed it, but was no longer looking when I saw the object subsequently move across the sky. Apparent Size: larger than a star in apparent size. Actual Size: 20m diameter.
Object Origin: North East of directly up, but at around 75-80 degrees above the horizon, so very nearly directly overhead.
Object Destination: Just west of due south.
Moon Visible: Saw the crescent moon on the opposite side of the sky, but about the same elevation (almost directly overhead also).
Moon Size Comparison: High cloud height. Weather Visibility: Clear, Hot Sunny, Calm Other Comments: cirrus/cirrostratus clouds had begun to appear over the previous 30 mins.
