Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. JC & wife
Number of witnesses present: 2
Sighting Duration: 15 minutes
Observation: Husband went outside to lock up, he thought for the cold period we had it was quite humid, clear and very bright "starry" night. He was looking around at the evening sky and notice a bright light moving very slowly which he initially thought was an aeroplane. However the movement stopped and he noticed the light became brighter and was a brilliant orange colour (stationery over the Cluan Tiers). A very fine light similar to a spot light beam was noticeable underneath which was moving in a sweeping pattern. The spot light / beam came and went over the duration and the bright orange colour was changing between reds/blues/greens etc - slowly moved downards towards the hill / ground area and eventually the light disappeared (as if it had reached the ground).
Description: Shape appeared to stay the same but colours alternated between bright reds/oranges/blues/greens etc. Also had a sweeping type beam of light coming from underneath. Moved slowly in a descending manner.
Location: Carrick looking North West across to the Western Tiers (Cluan Tiers).
Apparent Size Other: Large star size
Actual Size: Unable to tell.
Altitude: Initally above the hills but appeared to descend to ground level.
Object Origin: Westerly direction
Object Destination: Same area
Moon Visible: Yes, bright moon northerly direction.
Moon Size Comparison: Much smaller - large star size
Planets Visible: Stars visible - very clear night.
Weather: Clear, Mild, Calm
Viewing Aids: Binoclulars & Telescope
