Description: Driving eastbound, on Wellington Street in Sault Ste. Marie, as I came to the central part of the city, I noticed a straight beam of light hovering in the early morning sky, from the top of the hill that was on my north side. My vehicle came to a complete stop at a cross street and looked all the way down to the end of the street (7 blocks away) because this street ends at the base of the hill and has a metal stairwell leading to the street on the summit of the hill (MacDonald Ave).

Although being 7 blocks way, my eyes were able to focus on a little dark figure that was standing very still. This caught my curiosity and as I slowly droved towards it started moving side to side with very fluid like movements as if it was hovering in mid air.It moved as if it was confused, or afraid, and didn't know what to do. As I got closer the figure's appearance seemed to have metamorphosized into a transparent shadow like entity, that very swiftly flew up the stairs. To my astonishment, the beam of light that I had seen in the sky a few minutes ago , and a couple of miles away, was now at the top of the hill, only about 100 feet away. WIth my heart racing and my blood pumping i drove as fast as I could eastward along the base of the hill until i came to the nearest hill street and drove up to Mcdonald ave to see what was happening. In a matter of seconds, travelling from the bottom to the top of the hill, I arrived at the top of the steps only to find 3 circle shaped burn markings on the pavement of the street. Approximately 10 seconds later I heard a very weird kind of gunshot sound, looked up to the sky and saw a bright light shooting up into the stars, as I was watching this light spectacle a surreal kind of peaceful feeling came upon me, and it felt as of every hair on my body was standing on end. The feeling only lasted for what felt like 30 seconds but when I looked at my watch it was a good 40 minutes later. I drove home in astonishment and only told a few very good friends. Since that night I have heard other accounts of the same kind of light hovering across the summit of the hill very slowly with a beam of light shining down from it.

Color/Shape: Very intense white light, too far away to see any shape

Height & Speed: looked like the speed and height of a falling star, but in reverse.

TV/Radio/Press: Sighting was reported by a few individuals but no mention of it on any kind of news media.
