UFO Sighting Report - Canada

October 11th 2006 : Calgary, Alberta

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Calgary Alberta, Canada

Date: October 11th, 2006, around 7pm

Approach Direction: Stationary

Departure Direction: Stationary

Witness Direction: South

Description: I was driving west along Country Hills Boulevard when I saw something in the sky that was quite large. I thought it was the sun reflecting off of a commercial airliner of some kind. It stayed stationary in the air for at least 2 minutes before it was out of my sight due to hills and such.

That evening on the local news, they actually reported on the occurance, stating that officials have not commented on it as of yet. As a little backround, I am a journalist with over 25 years experience... Which is what is troubling. The next day, there were no follow-ups to the story. So, the day after that, I decided to go digging to see if I could find answers for myself. On all of the news services, and local police and public releases called "City Beat", there was absolutely no mention of it. A news blurb that was on the Global News Calgary website was now gone (they do not delete their archived news) and no mention of it anywhere.

I have talked to dozens of people who saw this news report, and the thing in the sky, but no information on it seems to exist anymore. I'd think I was crazy if it wasn't for all the other independant people who confirm they saw the news story.

I do not necessarily believe in UFO's, but this was definately strange, and the withdrawl of everything reported on it makes it even stranger.

Any advice you could give on how to find out what happened would be appreciated.

Color/Shape: Colour was bright orange/yellow/white, as though being reflected off of something reflective/metallic. The size compared to an airplane was enourmous. Compared to the way a plane looks, somewhat small that high in the sky no bigger than a baseball, this was the size of a large pickup truck.

Height & Speed: Somewhat lower than a plane usually flies, and totally stationary.

TV/Radio/Press: Yes, it was reported on Global News Calgary at 11pm that evening, and a News blurb on it was also on the Global News Calgary website and the Calgary Herald website. All traces of the report and article were removed a day later.
