Weather Conditions: Clear Sky

Description: My wife and I were saying good night to a friend when we noticed three orange lights in the sky due South of Boroughbridge. The three lights were evenly spaced and appeared to be travelling towards us. After a few minutes they appeared to alter course towards the East, and then turn South. As they did so, the lights appeared to diminish, and then disappear after a few minutes.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:

Hello John,

I do not believe it was a balloon we sighted. I have spent many years working with both the RAF and USAF on airfields with a range of aircraft, both at night and during the day. This sighting was totally different to anything I had seen before. It did not have the flight characteristics of a balloon, I have observed balloons such as the one in the video during New Years Eve celebrations in London. I note in fact, that our sighting was similar to one on your website reported on New Years Eve just south of where we sighted this one.
