Weather Conditions: Good, no wind, part cloud

Description: I was travelling with my husband when I noticed 4 orange lights about the size of a football, hovering about 15 foot above the ground through trees, 3 made a triangle one was flying around the others. We stopped the car to get a clearer view. We then drove on about a 1/4 of a mile where I got out of the car the lights had now gone up into the sky and was travelling in a straight line following the road in front of me. They just then disappeared into what looked like a cloud one after the other. If these were Chinese lanterns they seemed to navigate pretty good. If this is a hoax I think it could only be done with remote control.
