Weather Conditions: Clear and dry

Description: I was walking to shop in Cressing Road Braintree, as I entered street from an allyway I looked north as I crossed the road. I saw an orange ball of light with a sort of tail pointing down in the sky. It was at least 100-200 feet up and moving slow in a north-west direction. I watched it move for about 4 minutes when it faded out, at first I thought it had gone into cloud but the sky was clear. At the same time a plane with two white lights and a red tail light crossed the general position of the object at the same height. I watched the sky for several hours after but did'nt see anything else. I do not think it was a chinese lantern, I have seen many of them and it was too bright.
