DATE:
Saturday, 07/21/01 about 7:45 to 8 pm (local time) -- maybe 45 minutes before dark

APPROACH DIRECTION:
West to east

DEPARTURE DIRECTION:
To east

WITNESS DIRECTION:
Facing north up 7th Street toward North Mountain

DESCRIPTION:
A large distinctly green light that fell and looked almost like a meteorite but seemed too large and too bright in the pre-dusk daylight. I saw a short tail as it streaked a short distance to disappear in the clouds.

COLOR/SHAPE:
Large sort of phosphorescent green fattish "falling star" that disappeared in the clouds (never saw it descend to earth) just as a short "tail" sparked and also disappeared.

HEIGHT & SPEED:
Hard to say. Seemed to end in clouds and move more slowly than a "typical" shooting start.
